Episode 41: Lynn Henning

Lynn-Henning

This episode of the Replacement Level Podcast features Lynn Henning. Lynn covers the Tigers (and many other sports) for The Detroit News.

This would have been Lynn’s 25th year as a Hall of Fame voter but he chose not to submit a ballot this year, he joined the show to explain why. Lynn has long be a supporter of eliminating the ten player cap, he also favors making all ballots public. Frustrated that no changes were made and with the lack of a response from either the Hall of Fame itself or BBWAA leadership Henning opted not to vote this year. He thinks thirteen players are deserving but said he no longer wants to participate in a “grotesque and perverse exercise to screen worthy people from the ballot.” He said he has no plans to vote again unless he sees “meaningful, common sense progress” made to the voting system.
